Meanwhile the Brats are back to school tomorrow, Eduard have announced masks and no less than three etched sets for my kit of the year – see this month’s Benchmarks – and my cup is accordingly filled to the extent that only one thing now remains missing. It was a great show for SAM Publications, and while I was pleased to recommend David go and represent the magazines this year, I have missed the double delights of Dean’s and Denny’s, so will be back in the saddle next year. Once again I would like to thank all our friends in the States for the warm welcome and assistance tendered, and look forward to seeing them next year in Columbus. Of course one of the Lancs is Canadian, so technically not ours at all, but let’s hope those shadowy agencies that seek our demise have not been informed… Elsewhere we have a mass ofįeatures, reviews, and product showcases, including the huge pile of bits and pieces that Mr David Francis brought back from the US Nationals. The trio has been so busy throughout August that one could be forgiven for imagining that the RAF is once more in a position to send forth ‘great clouds of aeroplanes’, and that any assumption that we are no longer a global force is entirely erroneous. I have had the good fortune to be underneath both Vulcan and Lancasters twice this summer – both times in completely random locations, and I can only hope Mr Putin’s agents have had a similar experience whichever bushes they are lurking under these days. This month’s issue is absolutely crammed again, and I am delighted with the amount we have managed to shoehorn in – including a timely photoshoot by Raymond Ball of the Avro Trio at home. So with this in mind we have been rejigging the content as ever,įorcing in more and cutting out the flotsam. The bottom line is we have to focus on what we do best, and do more of it. Changes made to this title, however, are my remit, and they are made without reference to other titles, but to the changing demands of the marketplace and the fast moving technological revolution that is affecting the print medium all across the board. Fortunately the ramifications are above my pay grade so I am not obliged to concern myself with it unduly. I am sure Sun Tzu would have regarded this as some kind of tactical advantage. Even more so when they react to what you were doing a while back and change their format to emulate the one you realised was redundant and have now revised. T is always gratifying when the competition react to what you are doing and change their format to emulate yours.
